Out on the fab floor, wafer thinning exposes the die, and the thermal budget isn’t something you get to negotiate. Photoresist integrity, oxide stress, warpage—all of it comes down to temperature control. A half-degree drift can shift film stress, invite delamination, and wipe out an entire 300 mm lot. We built our infrared heating platform to hold that thermal profile steady, cycle after cycle.
Infrared heats by coupling straight into the thin films and substrate. Our short-wave NIR arrays put the energy where it needs to be, with wafer-level uniformity within ±0.1°C across the active zone. Temperature ramps exceed 10°C/s, so you can compress soft bake and hard bake without thermal overshoot.
Cleanroom Class 1–100 compatibility is baked into the design: low-outgassing materials, sealed quartz windows, and laminar airflow interfaces keep particle counts flat. Zero particle generation is measured, not just promised, with in-situ monitoring holding counts below 0.3 particles/cm².
With wafer thinning, the heat goes into the wafer, not the carrier. That focus preserves photoresist profiles, minimizes edge bead, and keeps critical dimensions on spec. You get tighter repeatability on thickness targets, fewer scrap lots, and bake windows that behave predictably from lot to lot.
Energy use drops because the heater couples directly to the film—no parasitic heating of fixtures. The modules run 24/7 with zero unplanned downtime, backed by MTBF data exceeding 10,000 hours.
Installation is straightforward, but integration is mandatory. The system needs a dedicated 24 V control line, clean dry air at 0.4 MPa, and a quartz-windowed process chamber matched to your handler. Retrofit integration takes about two days, including calibrating emissivity tables for each film stack.
Plan for thermal shadowing in the edge exclusion zones. We provide the mapping protocol to set safe boundary conditions.
