
Why you can’t mess around with bathroom heating

Here’s the deal: quartz glass is great at handling heat, but it hates sudden changes. When a cold droplet hits a tube that’s running at hundreds of degrees, the glass panics. It’s called “thermal shock,” and it can make the tube explode. We use explosion-proof quartz to stop that from happening. These tubes are specially treated so that if something does go wrong, the glass doesn’t just spray shards everywhere. It’s designed to stay contained. These lamps pull a lot of power. You’ve got to make sure your wiring can actually handle the load. If your circuit is too weak, you’re just going to trip your breakers the second you flip the switch.
